1. My top recommended online resources

I've been seeing a rising trend over the past year or so
online that makes me very happy.
That trend is more and more people are finally starting to
let go of their hard-earned money to purchase the tools they
need to start their business and make money online.
Sure there are many things that you can find for free online,
but at what expense?
Time.
Time is the number one thing you are going to lose when you
go out on the Net searching for the magic answers necessary
to help you get your own business started.
You have to search for websites on the topic you are wanting
to learn more about. Once you find them, you will have to
sift through a ton of self-proclaimed gurus sales pitches.
You will pick up bits and pieces as you go along, no doubt
about it, but you will get the equivalent of puzzle pieces.
The hard part is figuring out how to put those pieces
together.
As you search you will find great newsletters that you will
signup for. They are free so you will signup for every one
you find.
Problem with this is that you will start to become overloaded
with email that you will probably never read. It takes time
to figure out which newsletters you really enjoy and are able
to learn from. Once you do you will follow those religiously.
You will download free ebooks, you will even find some good
ones from time to time. Chances are you won't find time to
read them, though, because you will be too busy trying to
find more websites and newsletters trying to put together
the missing pieces of your puzzle.
I know all of this because I've been there. I also see
thousands upon thousands of others following this same
path.
The problem with this strategy is that time is your most
valuable asset.
Its not your domain name, its not the affiliate programs
you promote, its not your own product, and not the design
of your website.
Its your time. One of the tough things to get a grasp on
in this lifetime is the fact that as soon as a minute has
passed it is gone forever.
You will never get that back again. I used to spend hours
and hours online searching through websites and joining
newsletters that eventually I would just delete the second
they came in...not because they weren't good but because
I knew I wouldn't have time to read them.
Now, I look for the best books, courses, and software that
I can find and whip out the credit card.
Why?
Because I can sit down and over the course of a few nights,
can learn a particular subject from start to finish.
I no longer have to search through page after page of
articles and newsletter archives. I no longer have to wait
two months for that 5 part series on a topic I desperately
need to learn more about.
I spend my time finding the resources and tools that are
worth having, and I buy them. Then I sit there and do my
best to get through them before I get busy again.
But you know what? Once I have plunked down my hard-earned
dollar I'm much more motivated to put whatever I just paid
for to work.
I don't want that thing gathering dust taking up space on
my hard drive. I want to get my money back out of it!
Keep in mind that anything you purchase to help you learn
more or make your task easier is an investment in your
business. Whether you think of your online venture as a
business or not, you are investing in your ability to make
future income.
With all of that being said, I want to share with you the
best resources I've used lately that I would grab up in
a heartbeat to add to my knowledge toolbox.
I've broken them down by category to help you with whatever
topic you are needing to learn about:
Affiliate programs -
"Affiliate Mistakes: Maximizing Your Profits From Affiliate
Programs!" (Hey, I know this is my book, but from what I
hear it is great for helping you make more from your
affiliate programs! ;-)

Mini sites -
"Mini Site Profits" by Phil Wiley. This book is number one
in my book for laying out everything you need to know to
get a mini site up and running.

All aspects of an online business -
"Make A Living Online" by Jim Daniels. This is the Cadillac
of information products written by one of the 'real gurus'.
Jim makes over $200,000 a year from his product sales and
affiliate programs that he promotes. This is a printed book
as well, so you can sit down in your favorite recliner and
read it as you have free time. You should at the very least
read through the free guide Jim gives you on his site.

Creating your own product -
I read many products in this category before creating my
ebook. The one that I really enjoyed and think is excellent
value for the money is "Internet Success Blueprint" by Neil
Shearing. Neil gives you an excellent guide from start to
finish on what you will need to create your own digital
product.

Software -
I'm a big fan of software...beause anything that can make
my life easier is worth its weight in gold! In this category
I have two favorites:
Autoresponse Plus, which is software that you install on
your server to send out your newsletter and manage your
autoresponder messages. It handles the subscribe and
unsubscribe requests for you, saving a ton of time.

Internet Success Spider, by Neil Shearing is awesome at
ferreting out high traffic and popular websites to partner
with. Neil markets it as a product for people trying to
find super affiliates to promote their products for them.
But I use it to find sites to request links to my site,
which helps my link popularity tremendously, and for
finding second tier affiliates for my favorite affiliate
programs.

If you don't think link popularity is important, go to
Google.com and type in affiliate programs. What site do
you see at the top? This is a tough keyword phrase to
rank high for. Look at how many competing sites there are.
Want to see a one word keyword that has even more
competition and much harder to rank well on? Type in
affiliate at Google.com and see what site comes up on
top.
I personally know the importance of learning everything
I can, then finding the tools to make my tasks easier,
and then putting what I have learned to work for my
business.
There are many great books and tools out there, but you
need to focus on a few and read them over and over again
until it sinks in. Then spend as much time as you possibly
can applying what you have learned.
This is your key to success online, don't discard this
valuable advice.
