1. Editor's comments
=====================
This week sure flew by! I've been working on a project for
a friend of mine to try and get more traffic to his site.
Or, more specifically, how to get more sales of his products.
Isn't this what we all want?
Til next week,

2. How about a bonus worth $50,000
===================================
I've mentioned this program several times over the past few
weeks, but just found out they are now offering a huge bonus
that you might be interested in.
The program is Trafficology, which is a newsletter that comes
out once a month with super ideas on how to generate traffic
to your website.
More traffic generally equates to more money.
Anyway, they publish the best ideas that have been submitted
by subscribers to the newsletter and pay them up to $1,000
for their effort.
The affiliate program is 2-tier and pays you the same amount
that your referred winning subscriber gets, and half of the
amount of a winning subscriber that a webmaster referred by
you gets.
Big money and all you have to do is convince your visitors
to signup for the newsletter.
Of course you also need to remind them to put on their
thinking cap and start submitting their best ideas to help
generate traffic.
I've just found out that if you send 1,000 subscribers to
the newsletter, they will give you a domain name from their
ValueNIC ( http://www.affmatch.com/valuenic ) website
appraised at over $50,000 !!
That's a nice bonus if you ask me. Plus, with that many
subscribers tagged as being referred by you, your chances
are extremely high that you will refer a winning subscriber.
An extra thousand bucks here and there wouldn't be too bad
would it?
The other thing to consider is that everyone you send can
also refer others, and THEY will be on your second tier
payroll too.
You get 50% of what they make, so your odds get much better
when you get more people to signup.
Another big benefit is that the newsletter is damn good, too.
I've learned some great ideas from it that I would have never
thought of.
All you have to do is click this link and signup for the free
newsletter:

3. Caught up in Clicktrade going down?
=======================================
Next month Clicktrade is shutting down operation. Not too
surprising considering M$ (Microsoft) owns them.
Whether you are a merchant using Clicktrade to run your
affiliate program, or if you are an affiliate making some
money from a merchant that uses them, you've got about 2
weeks to make a change.
As a merchant you must now struggle to find someone to fill
Clicktrade's shoes.
As an affiliate you have to either hope they find someone
new, or start searching for new programs to join.
Many merchants might make the decision to shut down all
together. I hope this isn't the case for too many, though.
In my opinion, and experience, I wouldn't consider your
program to be a flop just because things might not have
gone so well with Clicktrade.
I've had some really bad experiences with them in the past,
and never was sure if they were trying to rip people off
intentionally or if it just happened that way.
I would suggest going back to your original plans that
you had when you first started your program way back when.
Is the plan still viable?
What have you learned since that time (excluding Clicktrade
experience) ?
Maybe its time to give your program a rebirth rather than
burying it.
Do some reading on how to start and manage an affiliate
program and learn as much as you possibly can on the subject.
A few that I recommend are:
"The Practical Guide to Creating And Managing A Profitable
Affiliate Program" - by Neil Durrant
http://www.affiliatepromote.com/pg
"Successful Affiliate Marketing for Merchants" - by Shawn
Collins, Frank Fiore, and James L. Marciano
http://www.affmatch.com/samm
"The Affiliate Marketing Plan Builder" - by Kowabunga!
http://www.affmatch.com/marketbuilder
These can help you decide whether or not to take your program
in-house or find another provider.
If you don't want to manage it yourself I recommend taking a
look at Commission Junction ( http://www.affmatch.com/cj )
They've gotten some bad press lately over their pricing in-
creases and policy changes, but they're still tops in what
they have to offer.
As an affiliate you might also consider CJ because they have
thousands of merchants listed that can easily fill the void
left by Clicktrade.
If you have done well with the current programs you might
contact them directly and find out what their plans are.
You might just get to be a part of their decision process
of what to do in the future. They might even work out a
special arrangement with you whether they plan to keep
the program running or not.
If you've been sending them a lot of business, chances are
that they won't want to lose you.
If you've been using this as a way to drive traffic to
your site and your products and now find that you can't
afford to move elsewhere, look for other traffic generating
methods, such as the one mentioned in the article above.
No matter which side of the fence you are on, Clicktrade
closing down definitely isn't the end of the world.

4. Amazon.com still trying to get profitable
=============================================
I'm not going to bash Amazon on this one, but thought I'd
pass along some interesting information.
The info is that you can now choose to receive your referral
fees as Amazon.com gift certificates instead of a check each
quarter.
The thought here is that they need to figure out a way to cut
your commissions even more...
I know! Instead of paying them cash each quarter, how about
if we can somehow convince them to buy stuff from us? This
gets more product out the door, and we make money off of the
commissions that they've earned making us money on other
stuff!
What a novel idea.
Maybe if you already buy a lot of books from them, or if
your commissions are usually quite low, this might work for
you.
Personally, I'll take the tiny amount thats left over after
they have done everything humanly possible to pay me 5%
commissions instead of the all-elusive 15% commissions that
I should get, in a nice pay check every quarter.
Actually its a couple of months after the end of each quarter,
but who's complaining?
