This has been a very tragic and sad week caused by evil
and hatred.
My sincerest condolences go out to everyone involved with
and affected by the horrible events that took place on
Tuesday.
Although my family and I are fortunate enough to live about
2000 miles from New York, we have felt a hurt that goes all
the way to the bone.
I'm sure there are many lessons to be learned from all of
this that go way beyond retaliation and policy changes.
I have a really bad habit of putting myself in other people's
shoes, and for the past few days I have spent much time trying
not to do this, but it has been almost impossible.
The thing that affects me personally the most is the thought
of not being able to say goodbye to loved ones. Wondering how
many left that morning on a bad note, or in a hurry to get to
work and didn't get that last hug or kiss.
I make it a point everyday to do this with my children and my
wife. If you aren't in this habit, let this terrible event
force a change in your life.
Whatever way you have chosen to try and help, be it donations
of blood, money, time, whatever, please don't forget to say a
prayer for the souls of the victims, and for the sanity of the
survivors, families, and friends of the victims.
